Summary

Dr. Amen Bawazir is graduated as physician from the Faculty of Medicine and health Sciences at Aden University in 1984 (MBBS). He received his higher degree of education from Havana, Cuba in 1990 as Specialist in Epidemiology and then PhD in 2009 from Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine at The University of Liverpool. UK. He has received additional courses in environmental health, cancer registry, control of non-communicable diseases and in cancer control and prevention (Jordan, Lyon/France, Egypt, Liverpool/UK and Maryland/USA).

Dr. Bawazir has contributed actively in the academic activities of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences- Aden University for undergraduate and postgraduate courses. He has supervised students for their dissertations as well as he acted as external examiner in different Faculty of medicine in Yemen.

He was a principle member in the scientific board of the Yemeni Journal of Medical and Health Sciences. In addition, he contributed in the steering committee for curriculum development in the Faculty of Medicine. He is heading Aden cancer center/Yemen and The Yemeni Cancer control Society and thus he has a principle contribution in the development of the National Cancer Control Program in Yemen.

Dr. Amen has attended and participated in many local, regional and international meetings, conferences and seminars mainly related to cancer control and preventions since 1995. His presentations were published in local and international peer-reviewed journals.

The line of research of Dr. Bawazir is mainly in cancer, non-communicable diseases, and hepatitis.
